Honfleur Shore Excursion to Giverny & Honfleur Town
Embark on a full-day private shore excursion from Honfleur Cruise Port to discover Claude Monet’s legendary gardens in Giverny, followed by a charming walking tour of Honfleur’s historic harbor and lanes.
Pick up at your cruise ship in Honfleur
In the morning, your English-speaking driver/guide will meet you at the cruise terminal in Honfleur, holding a sign with the lead traveler’s name. After a brief introduction and overview of the day, board your premium air‑conditioned vehicle and begin the 1.5–2 hour drive to Giverny. All vehicles are equipped with a PA system for live commentary and onboard Wi‑Fi so you can stay connected en route.
Arrive in Giverny – Monet’s village
On arrival in the village of Giverny, follow your guide to the entrance of Claude Monet’s House and Gardens. As you explore, you’ll recognize the settings that inspired some of his most famous works: the flower‑filled Clos Normand and the tranquil water garden with its lilies and Japanese bridge.
Visit Claude Monet’s house
Step inside Monet’s carefully preserved home. Discover the “blue sitting room” and first studio on the ground floor, then head upstairs to see the painter’s bedroom, with objects and artwork recalling his life, along with reproductions of works by his friends Cézanne, Renoir, and others. Continue to the family rooms, including Alice and Blanche Monet’s bedrooms, before returning downstairs to admire the bright yellow dining room, kitchen, and Monet’s collection of Japanese prints.
Stroll the Clos Normand & water garden
Outside, wander through the Clos Normand flower garden, where carefully composed beds of seasonal blooms—tulips, irises, poppies, peonies, roses, and more—create ever‑changing color harmonies. Then cross to the water garden, entirely created by Monet by diverting a small river. Walk along the pond, framed by willows, bamboo, and Japanese maples, and pause on the famous Japanese bridge overlooking the water lilies that inspired his “Nymphéas” series. Today, a team of gardeners maintains these spaces to reflect Monet’s original vision.
Ticket information: Entrance tickets to Monet’s House and Gardens are not included in the tour price. Please purchase your preferred ticket option during booking. Your guide will adapt the visit to match the entrances you have selected.
Return toward Honfleur and explore the town
After your visit and some free time for lunch in or near Giverny (at own expense), begin the drive back to Honfleur. On arrival, enjoy a short guided walking tour of this colorful harbor town, with its picturesque Vieux Bassin, tall slate‑fronted houses, and cobbled streets lined with galleries and artisan shops.
Then take some time to explore at your own pace: browse boutiques, photograph the old port and Sainte‑Catherine church, or simply relax at a café. At the end of the day, your guide will drive you back to your cruise ship in Honfleur. This private tour accommodates up to 8 guests per minivan and can be customized on request, including alternatives such as Rouen, Paris, or the Normandy D‑Day beaches on other days.
