A flexible itinerary in the Luberon

There are several charming villages to choose from on this full-day trip. With your guide, you will review a suggested selection and decide together which ones to visit based on your preferences and timing. In each village, you will enjoy some free time to stroll, take photos, or shop for local products. Lunch is at your own expense in one of the villages along the way.

Our selection of Luberon villages

Gordes
Perched dramatically on a rocky outcrop facing the Luberon mountain range, Gordes is one of the most famous villages in France. Wander its steep, cobbled lanes (called “calades”) lined with stone houses, and admire panoramic views over the valley. Due to its popularity, it is often best visited earlier in the day outside of peak summer crowds.

Lourmarin
Nestled among olive and almond trees, Lourmarin is known for its elegant architecture and relaxed atmosphere. As you stroll the narrow streets, you’ll see façades reflecting styles from the Renaissance to the 19th century. The village has long attracted artists and writers, including Albert Camus. You may also choose to visit its historic château or simply enjoy a café terrace in the heart of the village.

Roussillon
Roussillon sits above striking ochre cliffs and is famous for its warm colors. Enjoy time to wander through the village streets, where houses are painted in shades of red, orange, and yellow, or take the short “ochre trail” walk (around 30 minutes) to see the unique rock formations of the so-called “Provençal Colorado.”

Bonnieux
The hilltop village of Bonnieux, once a papal town, showcases centuries of history in its stone houses, fountains, washhouses, and churches. Climb through its steep streets to reach the upper church and enjoy wide views over the Luberon valley. The village has kept much of its authentic character and charm.

Optional Provence wine tasting

On this shore excursion, you can also choose to include a wine tasting of Provence wines. During the booking process, simply select the option with fewer villages (usually two) so there is enough time to visit a local winery. There, you will learn about the estate and its terroir and taste a selection of rosé, white, and red wines before returning to Marseille Cruise Port.
